Where they differ
- Price shape. Choosy is $10 after a 45-day trial. Switchman's picker, rules, safety warnings and URL cleaning are free with no trial clock; Pro is $9.90 once.
- macOS. Choosy 2.5.2 needs macOS 15.6. Switchman runs on macOS 13 or later.
- Arc Spaces. A Switchman rule can target an Arc Space. Choosy's browser docs list Profiles for Chrome, Edge, Brave and Vivaldi.
- Tracking cleanup. Switchman strips utm_, fbclid and similar parameters out of the box.
When Choosy is the better fit
- You want rules on modifier keys or regular expressions, browser extensions that send a page to another browser, or an API to script it. Choosy has all of these.
FAQ
Is Switchman free?
Yes. Switchman's routing core is free forever: the picker, rules, safety warnings and URL cleaning. Pro is $9.90 once.
Does Switchman send my links anywhere?
No. Switchman routes URLs on your Mac and has no link log. Site icons and short-link resolution are separate opt-in requests that go directly from your Mac.
Can I bring my Choosy rules over?
Not automatically. Switchman rules are a domain, an address or a source app, so most take a minute to re-create.
